Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 14: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in various municipal wards are facing problems due to non performance of sitting MLAs.
Sources said that these candidates while canvassing face volley of questions from various wards of JMC about the three years performance of sitting MLAs and promises made by the party in 2014 assembly elections.
At some places voters straightway tell party candidates that they have no personal animosity with them but they are not satisfied with the role of their respective MLAs.
This is becoming a headache for both BJP leadership and its candidates who are unable to convince the people on this account as senior leadership of the party as well as its candidates candidly admit that arrogance of some MLAs will have a direct bearing on municipal and Panchayat elections.
Though BJP leadership is making all out efforts to convince voters and seek their vote for party candidates but the party itself realizes the non performance by some MLAs may affect its performance.
Sources said that people have openly shown resentment against non performance of MLA Raipur Damana, Bali Bhagat. People in this constituency are showing resentment saying during last four years he never bothered to visit constituency and look into the grievances of people.
It is not Raipur Damana but in Jammu West there is also resentment in some wards against the local representative. One of the reasons for resentment is failure of party to give mandate to deserving members of the party and instead the senior leaders fielded their relatives as party candidates.
This has given rise to public resentment in one of the wards of Jammu West constituency. In this ward party cadre is also supporting a BJP rebel who has filed the nomination papers as independent candidate.
Same is case in some wards of Gandhi Nagar constituency. Going by the public resentment it will not be safe cake walk for BJP and party needs to work hard to regain the lost ground.
