Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Oct 15: At a time when the leaders of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) are busy in castigating people who glorified scholar turned militant Manan Wani one of their own leaders has taken a dig at the government over the killing of Manan.
The BJP leader who belongs to South Kashmir has written on a social networking site that the death of Manan is no achievement, but a failure of the democracy. The leader goes on to say that Indian democracy has failed to win hearts and minds of educated Kashmiri youth.
"Killing of Manan is not your 'achievement' but failure of your democracy to win hearts and minds of educated Kashmiri youth. No nation wants to shoulder the coffins of their youth, it is very painful. We can see so much violence and death in Kashmir and I feel that violence serves no purpose," wrote the BJP leader.
The BJP leader further writes, "Stones, bullets, pellets, blood, death-they achieve nothing. We are only destroying our society with violence. By taking a violent step government should understand there will be more violence around the corner, not less."
The BJP leader wrote that the government should take steps to stop the bloodshed in Kashmir by peace means, as peace is the only pathway for resolving the matter. This BJP leader has been credited with strengthening the party in Kashmir before the 2014 Lok Sabha as well as assembly elections.
The BJP leader is closely associated with the peace initiatives and in fact has formed an organization in this regard. He has organized many peace conferences in Jammu as well as Kashmir divisions. He has been inviting high profile personalities to such peace conferences with former Governor Narendra Nath Vohra taking part in many such conferences that too on regular basis.
It would be in place to mention here that BJP leaders have taken a dig at the leaders both mainstream as well as separatist who paid tributes to Manan. The BJP leaders said that these people are involved in act of treason by glorifying a militant who took up arms despite possessing a doctorate.
Given the fact that the BJP leader has castigated the government for killing of Manan it remains to be seen whether any action would be taken against him. However, given the track record there are least chances that any action would be taken against the BJP leader who fought the 2014 assembly election.
