Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Oct 15: In a bid to hide its inefficiency, the J&K Sports Council has given false reply to an RTI application.
An RTI activist had sought detailed information about the under-construction Indoor Sports Complex at Subash Stadium in Udhampur. The Executive Engineer, Sports Council, Construction Division Jammu, responded to the RTI, saying the work "is completed as per the DPR." But the sports persons who spoke to Early Times said the Sports Council has lied as the work is yet to be completed.
Criticising the Sports Council, Tarun (working president District Table Tennis Association Udhampur) said that it is the matter of shame for the Sports Council that they are hiding their failure.
In a handout, Tarun said, "How can KHELO INDIA will be successful without sports infrastructure and equipment?"
He said the district administration is also responsible for demoralising young talent in Udhampur as it has failed to complete these projects in time.
Tarun said that on November 16, 2013, foundation stone was laid for the Indoor Sports Complex, but even after five years the project is yet to be completed.
