Independent candidates allege harassment, witch hunt

Srinagar, Oct 23: Majority of the Independent Candidates who had won the Urban Local Bodies Election in Kishtwar and Doda Districts of Chenab valley in Jammu province has allege harassment on behalf of various parties who are trying to rope in them by either hook or crook into their fold so that they can stake the claim for Presidentship/Chairmenship of Municipal Committees/Council of Kishtwar, Doda & Bhaderwah.
Speaking to "Early Times" an Independent Candidate said that he being followed and chased wherever he goes added that he is feeling like caged since the Municipality election results has been announced on 20-10-2018. He said that they should be left at liberty to choose what is better and in the interest of their voters.
"When I was out of my home to join other colleagues who win the elections at a dinner party to discuss the modalities and to draw consensus on various issues-I was shocked to see a siege laid down outside the roads coming out of the home of the said members" maintain another Independent candidate who said that the party leaders of a particular party was hiding inside their vehicles while waiting for them to come out of the said dinner party.
Majority of the Independent candidates said that NC, Congress, BJP and PDP are approaching them with lucrative and developmental offers to join their camp so that they could get required number to stake claim for the post of Presidentship/Chairman municipal committees/councils.
They seek the intervention of the concern District Administration as well as of the Chief Electoral Officer J&K and called for strengthening of their security so that they could save themselves from any possible threat in case of non committal of support to a particular party or a group aspiring to stake claims on Municipalities.
