Early Times Report

BARAMULLA, Oct 23: The board examinations are about to start in Kashmir valley and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir, but the higher authorities of State Board of School Education (BOSE) and other concerned departments have failed to open sub board office at Pattan town in this north Kashmir district.
Almost five months have passed since the Under Secretary to government School Education Department directed the BOSE to make necessary office accommodations in Pattan town. The Under Secretary had written a letter to the Secretary, J&K State Board of School Education, Srinagar vide no: Edu/BOSE/38/2018 dated 11/06/2018.
The letter read: "I am directed to request you to kindly open a JKBOSE Sub-Office at Pattan. The necessary office accommodation shall be arranged by the Thesildar Pattan in consultation with the Chief Education Officer, Baramulla."
Local residents while talking to Early Times said that Pattan is a historic place.
It comprises of three educational zones namely Pattan, Nehalpora, and Singhpora.
There are five higher secondary schools, 15 high schools and scores of middle schools in Pattan. "Not only that, this tehsil was also considered as gateway of north Kashmir," said Javid Ahmad.
He said that Pattan has more than seventy thousand voters and "our children have to travel almost 27 kms towards Srinagar and same distance they cover to reach Baramulla sub board office for education related works."
"Pattan is the oldest town in north Kashmir and board office in Pattan is what we are demanding from last so many years," said another local, Abdul Rashid.
The local residents said that government had failed to identify the land for board, even as there is state land available.
"We appeal the Governor administration to take a serious note of our problems," the locals added.
