People demand property audit of SHOs/SDPOs
After operation clean up in SVO

Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 23: The latest move of the Governor's administration to reshuffle several officers of the State Vigilance Organization the previous day has been welcomed by all and sundry and is being seen as a step to bring back accountability and transparency in the working of the anti- graft body.
In the order of the Governor administration, several Dy SPs and Inspectors who had overstayed in the SVO and made fortunes misusing their positions had been shuffled, knocking down the nexus that had been operating in the organization, which was otherwise mandated to be an organization to curb the menace of corruption in the government departments. "The credit goes to the Director SVO P L Gupta, who has been known in the department for his integrity and uprightness and Advisor to the Governor, Vijay Kumar who knocked down their applecart" said an officer of the state administration admitting that the Vigilance organization had itself been reduced into a den of corruption.
With operation clean up within the SVO initiated, people are now questioning the repeated postings of same officers as SHOs and SDPOs at the important police stations and sub divisions of the state, specifically in Jammu Zone. "Many of these officers have developed strategic relations with their political masters who help them get lucrative postings time and again and then they pay them back in multiple ways" said Dheerendra Sharma, president of resident welfare association in Jammu. "The time is ripe to identify these officers and get an audit of their properties done so that they can be brought to book for their misdeeds" he added.
It is an open secret that many of these police officers have been in criminal nexus with land mafia and many of them were working as property dealers. They even implicate innocent people in false cases who refuse to tow their line. "People have high hopes from the Governor administration because with no popular government in place in the state, the politician-Police nexus can also be smashed just as done recently in the SVO recently" Sharma added further.
