Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 9: The 'Durbar' move employees residing in Estate department's quarters in Panjtirthi threw belongings of the department from one of its quarters to open a Kashmiri baker shop within the premises.
The incident took place on Friday evening when some employees threw belongings of the Estate department from one of its rooms made up for its department's employees and gave the space to unknown person for opening up Kashmiri baker Shop. The watchman deployed there immediately reported the incident to the concerned officers.
An officer told Early Times that the strict action would be taken against the erring employees as nobody can forcibly get government's property vacated, because it is a serious offence.
He said that the senior officers have been intimated in this regard and they will visit the spot on Saturday to investigate entire incident and local police will also be called.
"There is a set of procedure to provide space for any commercial activity within the premises of the department. After getting request, a notice is published from the department and later auction is held. But capturing a space forcibly by throwing department's belongings out draws punishable offence," he said.
Sources said that although there are 3-4 Kashmiri baker shops in Panjtirthi area near these quarters to meet their demands, such act shows that some employees have no fear of the law due to their political links.
"This is not the first incident. Many such incidents took place in the past also and every time the erring employees escaped action due to their political connections," said sources.
