Presidents, VPs for 6 Municipalities of Kathua district elected

KATHUA, Nov 10: Councillor from Ward No. 9 of Kathua Municipal Council, Naresh Sharma, was today elected President while Councillor of Ward No. 4, Rekha Kumari was elected Vice President of Kathua Municipal Council (KMC).
In the election for President that was held at MC office in Kathua, Naresh polled 15 votes out of 21 while Vice Presidential candidate, Rekha Kumari got 13 votes, District Election Officer, Rohit Khajuria declared.
Surmu Din, who was elected unopposed from Ward No 2 of Municipal Committee Lakhanpur, today got elected Chairman of Lakhanpur Municipal Committee while Rakesh Sharma of Ward No 3 was elected Vice Chairman. 4 Councillors of Lakhanpur Committee, having total strength of 7, reposed their faith on Surmu Din while Rakesh Sharma also got 4 votes in his favour.
Meanwhile, Basohli Municipal Committee, Sumesh Sapolia of Ward 6 was able to fetch 7 votes out of 13 and was declared Chairman whereas, Abhinav Razdan of ward 9, polled 7 votes and was declared Vice Chairman.
For Chairman of Billawar Municipal Committee, the election for which was held today, Uma Kant Basotra, Councillor of ward 9 was elected Chairman as he polled 7 out of 13 votes while Vice Chairman candidate, Mohinder Kumar was also polled 7 votes and was declared winner for the post of Vice Chairman.
8 members of Hiranagar Municipal Committee, having total strength of 13, laid their weight behind Councillor Vijay Kumar and elected him Chairman of Hiranagar committee while councillor Rajinder Singh was able to get support from 8 Councillors and was elected Vice Chairman.
In Nagri- Parole Municipal Committee, having strength of 13 Councillors, 8 Councillors reposed their faith on the ability of Shashi Kanta and elected her as their Chairman while Tarsem Paul was elected Vice Chairman by getting support from 7 Councillors.
