Former Ministers want plum postings for favourite Babus | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 13: Eventhough there is no popular government in place; certain noted politicians including former Ministers are lobbying to get plum postings for their blue eyed babus. A bureaucrat is a case in point, who has been transferred four times during the last one year. He was Joint Director Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department Kashmir then transferred to Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla. This year he was appointed Director Social Welfare Department, then Registrar Cooperatives and was Monday appointed as Director CAPD. This bureaucrat is close to former minister from north Kashmir. "Both belong to North Kashmir and former minister has been helping him in getting plum postings," a source said adding that there is also a case registered against him in 2013 with the State Vigilance Organization. The source said that several other former ministers have been using their influence in getting plum postings for their blue eyed officers. The State Vigilance Organization has registered cases against over 200 government officials in the last three years for their alleged involvement in misappropriations. As per these figures, the SVO registered 55 and 23 cases in Kashmir during 2015 and 2016, respectively. These cases have been registered related to misuse of official position, corruption charges, disproportionate assets, illegal compensation, purchase of sub-standard drugs, illegal grant permission to constructions, irregularities in funds, backdoor appointments, and various other wrong doings. Cases have also been registered against several senior bureaucrats and police officers. During 2017, an FIR has been registered against senior officials of the Health and Medical Education Department for allegedly purchasing sub-standard drugs. There are also cases against several engineers of Roads and Buildings Department for "misappropriation" of funds. An official of the SVO said that the investigations were going on in these cases. "We register cases only if there is some proof. In all these cases, there is some evidence based on which the FIRs have been registered," the official said. "We do not registered FIR only on a mere complaint unless find some evidence," he added. |
