IT Department conducts search on Fish traders, Malhotra Eye Clinic

Jammu, Nov 14: The Income Tax Department today conducted surprise check at leading Fish Traders in Jammu city for scrutiny of accounts and tax evasion. Sources in the Income Tax Department said that the search, surveys was conducted at Ashok Fish Company, Honey Fish Company, King Fish Company at Kanji House and Malhotra Eye Care clinic at Sarwal.
Acting on the information regarding fudging and concealing of information by some traders and accordingly various teams were constituted for paying surprise checks and surveys at leading Fish Traders at Kanji House along with others in Jammu. According to sources, during surprise checks incriminating documents were confiscated and the teams scrutinized transactions and other documents while the teams also seized some documents with them for detailed scrutiny.
The officials, however, did not give a break-up of the undisclosed income or cash seized from these traders as incriminatory documents of the last many years were being scrutinised.
The raids preceded discreet inquiries for over much time when it was learnt about the cash payments by big hotels of the city to these fish traders.
