Omar welcomes, Farooq bashes BJP
11/14/2018 10:55:16 PM

Early Times Report
srinagar, Nov 14: Even as the National Conference working President Omar Abdullah has welcomed the statement of Bharatiya Janta Party national general secretary Ram Madhav about government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, his father and party patron Dr Farooq Abdullah has taken a dig at the BJP on a different subject.
On Wednesday, the father-son duo sounded different about BJP. While the son found sensibility in BJP's statement, father accused the party of "antipathy."
Dr Abdullah said that changing names of cities throughout the country is an attempt to change the "pluralistic visage of India and a premeditated attempt to deviate the attention of people from the developmental deficit across the country."
Abdullah, who represents the Srinagar Parliamentary constituency said: "India is a mosaic of cultures and the contribution of Muslims cannot be belittled. The contribution of Muslims to the cultural pool of India is discernible in linguistics, crafts, food and other art forms. Such attempts reveal the antipathy of BJP led state government including the incumbent UP Government for academics and historical facts."
But on the same day Omar Abdullah had some appreciation for the right wing party. "Sensible to clear the air about imminent government formation. There are far too many middle men and power hungry people trying to convince everyone in J&K that their entry in to the secretariat is imminent," Omar tweeted.
At a function in Kathua Tuesday night, Madhav had reportedly said that since the governor's rule was imposed in the state there had been development in all sectors.
"Even the public is happy. So, the party has decided that the governor's rule should continue for some more time," he had said.
The state has been placed under the governor's rule since June 19 after the BJP pulled out of its coalition with the PDP and no alternative front staked claim for government formation.
However, the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly was placed in suspended animation, leaving doors open for efforts for fresh government formation.
The rumors of BJP forming government through alliance with the Peoples Conference and the rebels from the Peoples Democratic Party have alleged unnerved the regional players.
