Early Times Report

BARAMULLA, Nov 15: Strong resentment is brewing among the general public in all parts of this north Kashmir district against the Power Development Department for issuing new schedule in both metered and non metered areas.
Surprisingly the schedule was issued when a few inches of snow compelled the department to issue the power curtailment schedule.
People told Early Times about the problems caused by the frequent power cuts. Bashir Ahmad of Baramulla said that, "from past several days we were witnessing frequent power cuts but from yesterday the department of PDD has issued new power schedule which is unacceptable".
The pesky power cuts is triggering resentment among various localities, who asked Power Development Department (PDD) to change the power schedule as they are regularly paying power tariffs, adding the metered areas have also to follow the schedule which is unjustified, said Bashir.
Another consumer from Delina, Mohammad Subhan said the cuts are frequent and prolonged. There are hundreds of villages in Baramulla district that are reeling under darkness from yesterday.
Let the department concerned seek monthly tariffs only if they will provide us proper power supply, otherwise we will destroy their meters on roads and will lodge a strong protest against them, said consumer.
The power curtailment has been reported from all thesils of Baramulla district, there are hundreds of Megawatts of electricity that is produced from this north Kashmir power houses, but unfortunately this district is reeling under darkness due to callous approach and policies of the department concerned.
Meanwhile a high-level meeting of trader's federation Baramulla was held today under the chairmanship of its president Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, and general secretary Er Tariq Ahmad Magloo.
The people have threatedned not to pay the bilss if the new schedule was not withdrawn.
