jammu, Nov 15: A ward member of a Municipal Committee in hilly district is going to contest the elections for the Chairman of Committee, in the upcoming elections despite having non-bailable warrants issued against him.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police of the district to produce the accused in the court in the first week of November, but the SSP had also failed execute the orders.
Non-bailable warrants have been issued by the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Anantnag on 9th of October 2018, through SSP Anantnag to the SSP of the particular district, directing the SSP to arrest the accused and produce him before the court by or before next date of hearing on 6th of November 2018.
Sources said that the police had failed to produce the accused on the date of hearing and the accused has won from a ward of Municipality and has been contesting the elections of Chairman of the Municipal Committee, scheduled to be held very shortly.
According to the FIR lodged by an aggrieved person, it has been reported that the accused had taken a huge sum of money from the applicant in return of a government job. "The applicant had reportedly paid several Lakhs to the accused but after taking money, the accused started ignoring the calls of the applicant, after which he lodged an FIR with the police", sources said, adding that the case has been going on for the last more than an year and warrants have been issued against him time and again but he ignored them all.
He didn't present before the court and even didn't pick up his phone and finally the CJM issued non-bailalbe warrants but once again SSP has failed to produce him in the court despite his easy availability in the district and he has recently won elections of ward member.
