Jammu, Nov 16: A delegation of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil (LAHDC) led by Chairman LAHDC, Feroz Ahmad Khan had met Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan where the delegation handed memorandum to the governor. Addressing a press conference at press club Jammu here today, Chairman LAHDC Feroz Khan said a delegation of LAHDC met the governor has requested him to sanction additional funds to the LAHDC for strengthening development activities in Kargil, to provide better road and air connectivity; up gradation of present Kargil satellite campus into full fledged University. He further said, "It Is believed that the debt laden Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS) is likely to shelve the project, if so the tunnel will have to fresh biding and tendering process which will take 2 to three years. So our main demand was to no to have re biding of tender as it will cost more time. We were assured by the Governor and Chief Secretary that no new re biding will take place and alternative solution will be looked for the construction of Zoljila Tunnel, said Chairman LAHDC. Feroz Khan said our second demand was to start the air connectivity. Though airport has been constructed, but it is yet to be utilized for commercial flight services through UDAAN scheme.
