PhD scholars among several educated youth contesting Panchayat elections from Kishtwar in 1st phase

KISHTWAR, Nov 16: Remote areas of this district including Padder, Machail, Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan blocks are going to vote in first phase of Panchayat election on Saturday.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the majority of areas that are going to poll in first phase in Kishtwar District are presently under heavy snow cover which includes a Suncham village of Machail block in Kishtwar District situated at an altitude of nearly 15500 feet above sea level.
Going through the candidates in poll fray, a P.hd degree holder in Microbiology (Botany) Dr. Prathvi Raj is contesting the election from Loharna A of Dachhan block while another candidate Mansoor Ahmed who is contesting against Dr. Prathvi Raj is double PG holding MA English & Education degrees beside is also holding B Ed degree.
It was not only educated youths, but educated women like Sindhu Sharma is also contesting Panchayat election from Anjol Panchayat of Keshwan goining to poll in 2nd phase on 20th.
Speaking to "Early Times" Sindhu Sharma who is M.Pil in Sanskirat and is in process of pursuing PhD has instead decided to contest Panchayat elections said that she wants to do something for the people of her village which lacks basic facilities like health, electricity, schools and roads.
She said that the students including girls had to travel two hours on foot journey to reach middle or High School added that women had to pick up water far away from the village. She urged the educated youth of Kashmir valley to come forward and strengthen the democratic institutions like Panchayats so that they could serve their own people in a better way added that the gun only pushes the developing society towards darkness.
It was not only educated youths who are contesting Panchayat elections, but a former hard core Hizb militant Ghulam Mohammad Khanday is also contesting the election from Dachhan block. Khanday had remained in jail with India's fugitive Masood Azhar in Jammu's Kotbalwal jail.
He after shunning the path of violence had even turn up for Army's Sadbawna tour and praises the army role in bring peace in the trouble torn state beside also realized that he had done had lost his precious years of his life while hiding in jungles.
