DB directs Secy Tourism to file fresh status report

JAMMU, Nov 17: A Public Interest Litigation (PIL), filed by Advocate Sumit Nayyar, seeking respondents to develop/improve the tourist infrastructural facilities in Mantalai and Sudh Mahadev including temples which attract a large number of tourists every year both in summer and winter season and to take effective measures as expeditiously as possible came up for hearing today.
A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Tashi Rabstan after hearing petitioner in person whereas AAG FA Nantoo for the State, directed Secretary Tourism J&K to file fresh status report be filed giving the same details along with projected dates of completion of various works as per the terms of the allotment of work.
When the PIL came-up for hearing, Division Bench observed that status report accompanied by an affidavit dated October 15, 2018 has been filed by Rigzin Sampheal, Secretary to Government, Tourism Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, setting out the details of developmental works being undertaken at Sudhmahadev, Mantalai and Patnitop.
DB further observed that though, the Secretary of the Department of Tourism has given the details of the works, funds released and funds utilized as well as current status of various works, we have not been informed about the projected dates of completion of the works and directed him to file fresh status report.
