Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 17: KC Gurukul Public School organised an exciting annual Sports Meet which was marked by enthusiasm and large participation of students. More than 300 students drawn from nursery to 12th class participated in various sports events.
Jatender Singh Johar, KPS Commandant Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police 8thBn was the Chief Guest. The thrilling Sports Meet opened with aerobic mass rhythmic exercises by more than 60 students of 5th class which got thunderous applause. It set the tone for hard contesting sports events that followed it to huge enjoyment of the sporting audience.
The tiny tots of Nursery and LKG competed for banana race and Ring and Cone Race in very interesting way.
It was a thrilling sight to see the toddlers running towards the finishing line, falling after few steps and getting up to catch up those who moved ahead and carry on the race amidst laughter of the parents in the audience.
It was amusing to see the students of class 1st run with spoon held tight with their teeth holding lemon on spoon. After every few steps the lemon would fall down which they again picked up and put back on the spoon. It required a great balancing act on the part of the children. The other events that evoked the good response from the audience included Obstacle race for class 1st, Hurdle race for class 2nd, Lemon Race for higher classes, sac race, Three leg race, 100-meter race, Shot put, Sprint Race for secondary classes. These events were held separately for boys and girls students of each class At the culmination of the Meet, Johar distributed the prizes among the winners of different events. In his speech, the Chief Guest complimented the participants for their enthusiasm and sporting talent and said that it is not fair to judge the talent only by the awards they won at such events as participation with zeal and proper technique in any competition is the hallmark of a sportsperson.
He said he was happy to see the talent of the students and hoped that the institution would further harness their talent so that they are able to bring laurels, not for the School, but for the State and the country in coming years.
The Chairman of KC Gurukul Public School, Arvind Mahajan, Chairperson, Sanjeeta Mahajan and Academic Director, Anu Jandial were among those present on the occasion.
