Early Times Report
Pulwama, Nov 18: Militants attacked a newly set up camp of the CRPF in Pulwama district of south Kashmir Sunday, killing one head constable and injuring two others, officials said. According to media inputs, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire and hurled grenades on the CRPF camp at Kakapora in the district. The camp had come up in view of the ongoing panchayat elections in the state.
CRPF personnel immediately cordoned off the area, leading to an encounter with the militants.
In a separate incident, two army jawans of 50 Rashtriya Rifles were injured after they were attacked by militants in Pulwama. The incident took place soon after a camp of CRPF in Kakapora was attacked. Jaish-e-Mohammad has taken responsibility for both the attacks.
Earlier today, at least two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Rebban area of Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. The deceased have been identified as Nawaz Wagay of Zainpora Shopian and Yawar Wani of Litter Pulwama. Both the terrorists were associated with terror outfit Al-Badr.
As per an official statement released by the Jammu and Kashmir police, a search operation was launched by them at the strike of dawn today. As the operation was underway, the terrorists fired upon the forces. The police retaliated to the firing leading to an encounter.
The police also recovered incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, from the site of encounter. On November 2, the Police had arrested a member of the same terror outfit in Handwara town of Kupwara district. The terrorist was identified as Sajjad Ahmad Dar a resident of Rohumu in Pulwama.
