BJP gets 6 Sarpanchs in boycott hit Marwah, PDP gets 4

Kishtwar, Nov 18: The BJP that suffered massive defeat in Dachhan block while getting slight lead in Padder managed to get six seats of Sarpanchs in boycott hit Marwah including 4 seats uncontested as the people of Marwah had boycotted polls in view of Bursar Power Project controversy.
Similarly PDP manage to win four seats of Sarpanches from Warwan block including three unopposed.
As per the details available with Early Times, out of 12 Panchayats, the election for only two Panchayats were held which included Nawapchi and Yurdoo Panchayats from where BJP candidate Bilal Ahmed Khanday (343 votes) defeated Ashiq Hussain (272 votes) while Adil Rasool Sheikh (423 votes) of BJP defeated Mohammad Shafi Jamal (297 votes) and out of around 14000 votes only 1341 votes were polled in Marwah block.
The Six Panchayats and majority of Panch wards found no candidate.
In Warwan block, out of 9 Panchayat, the Election was held on only two seats on which an Independent candidate Azad Nabi Lone (374 votes) defeated Ghulam Nabi Lone (318) from Choidraman Panchayat and Khalida Begum (248 votes) of PDP defeated Mohammad Yousaf (214 votes) from Margi Panchayat while four Panchayats and majority of Panch seats found no candidate.
Speaking to Early Times, the people of Marwah said that they were not concerned about which party wins from Marwah and Warwan and their only concern was to raise voice against the proposed construction of Bursar Power Project.
