Early Times Report
udhampur, Nov 18: With BJP trying its level best to win the seats of President and Vice President of Municipal Council Udhampur and National Panthers Party (NPP) too leaving no stone unturned to get the same, there are more chances of cross voting, sources inform.
Sources further inform that some Councilors out of 21 not want Dr Yogeshwar Gupta as President of Muncipality and they could vote against party's writ.
NPP candidate for the post of President is Sunil Paroch while Preeti Khajuria is for Vice President. BJP has Dr Yogeshwar for the post of President and Surinder Singh Khalsa for the post of Vice President.
Sources further informed that NPP claims support of 11 Councilors including 3 Independent while BJP claims support of 9.
Of the total 21 Councilors BJP has four, NPP has six, there are nine Independents and Congress has two. Of this BJP has secured the support of five Independents and including its own four it claims support of nine Councilors and BJP helmsmen claim that they will secure the support of two more independents.
Similarly, NPP has six Councilors and is claiming to get the required number with the help of two from Congress and three Independents.
Under these circumstances some experts have opined that cross voting is possible in favour of both the parties. Senior BJP leader Kavinder Gupta is also in the town to manage the game.
Sources informed that Khalsa may get the post of Vice President and Dr Gupta that of President from BJP and result will be announced after the secret voting tomorrow.
