BJP cadre unhappy over high command's decision over Udhampur MC
11/19/2018 10:14:44 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 19: Though BJP has won the Municipal Council of Udhampur, there is still a great resentment among the party cadre over the tie up with Udhampur MLA , Pawan Gupta's group.
According to source the party workers at ground level have not digested the merger of Pawan Gupta men in BJP.
Sources said that party cadre was not in favour of merger with Pawan and instead wanted to support National Panthers Party (NPP) to keep Pawan at Bay. Some of the BJP activists had also pleaded before senior leadership to tie up with NPP which could remain fruitful in coming Lok Sabha elections next year.
Sources said BJP cadre in Udhampur has even gone to extent of saying that NPP would support BJP in L S Constituency of KathuaDoda provided party supports it's candidates for post of chairman to Udhampur Municipal Council.
But this contention was turned down by BJP leadership who favoured tie up with Pawan Gupta's group whose family has been associated with BJP for over last six decades.
Sources said BJP leadership while rejecting the contention said that party can't forget the contribution of Lala Shiv Charan Gupta in Praja Parishad Moment and later in Jana Sangh and BJP.
This forced the party activists to bow before the decision of party High Command but the resentment still continues.
