Without electricity, water Keri village left to fend on its own

Udhampur, Nov 19: The residents of Keri village, in Ghordi West Panchayat of Ramnagar Tehsil of District Udhampur have used to living with no "modern" amenities. They live under thatched roofs, away from the sight of the government. They live without electricity and even have no access to safe drinking water. It's not just one person but many families who have been affected in this village.
They have accustomed themselves so much that they believe their life will pass away in the light of kerosene lamps. They have no tube lights or ceiling fans. They are still waiting for authorities to wake from their deep slumber. India cannot truly be considered 'developed' till all the citizens have access to basic amenities like clean water, proper housing, electricity, and education.
India in 21st century cannot even imagine such a picture. Some people have seen such pictures in Movies only. But when the sun rises in the village of Keri in district Udhampur, the light emerges in village Keri due to Kerosene lamps as well as wooden Pieces . People eat and eat food with the help of Kerosene lamps. Children also study with the flickering flame of lamps.
Over 1000 Population of ST(Schedule tribes) Community are in darkness ,due to non -availability of electricity in their village . ST Community in Keri Village are totally ignored by PDD Department for not provided electricity to them. Students of the said area are faces hardship to continue their studies. After Sunset the Darkness spread in the said area and the student lighting the Kerosene oil Lamps to keep their studies running.
Locals while talking to Early Times Said that Electricity is become a distant dream for us .he alleged that the state government and department concerned has never made an effort to supply electricity to the said area. The issue was raised time and again with the concerned without results.
Student of the area while talking to Early Times said that " life without electricity is very tough in the Village.
