KUPWARA, Nov 20: From last few days three fire incidents have been reported in Kupwara district in which two panchayats were gutted in fire, while as one building of Higher Secondary School Hatmulla was also gutted.
According to sources some unknown persons on Sunday late evening set ablaze one building of Higher Secondary School, Hatmulla in Kupwara district.
After Isha prayers, some unidentified persons set educational Institute on fire in Hatmulla area, said sources.
Sources said after seeing the flames that were erupted from Government Higher Secondary School Hatmaloo Kupwara, locals rushed to the spot to control the fire and soon after the incident, fire tenders reached the spot to douse the flames.
However, it is learnt from locals that the said buildings were being used as polling station for Panchayat elections of which second phase will be held on Nov 20.
Earlier on Nov 17, a Panchayat Ghar was set on fire by some miscreants in Natnusa Reshwari village of this north Kashmir district. The fire incident had occurred at about 07:30 PM on Saturday.
However sources said that, school authorities have ordered presence of night watchmen in all educational institutions of this north Kashmir district.
Sources said that all Heads of the institutions of this district are put under strict instructions to ensure the presence of night chowkidars in their institutions. Service of contingent paid workers (CPWs) and other class 4th employees are being utilized to prevent from fire incidents, sources informed.
They said that the officials have already passed some directions, from last few days the fire incidents have been reported from this north Kashmir district, and to control them, the school authorities have ordered for implementation of directions in letter and spirit.
The order comes amid two to three incidents of fire gutting was reported including panchayat ghar and a school building were set ablaze in Kupwara district, sources told early times.
Meanwhile a top police official said that, they are investigating the matter to ascertain that how these building were set on fire.
In the first phase of Panchayat elections, huge turnout of polling was recorded in this north Kashmir district, as police is keeping strict vigil on each and every anti national element; we hope that there will be a good participation of voters in the second phase also, the police official said.
Meanwhile three places of Kupwara district including Kalaroos, Machil and Rajwara will be going for the second phase of panchayat elections on Nov 20.
