Congress high command summons PCC leadership
Postmortem of defeat in local body polls
11/20/2018 10:49:47 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 20: In the wake up of humiliating defeat of the Congress candidates in the Local Body elections, the party high command has summoned the entire leadership of State unit of Congress to New Delhi.
According to the reliable sources in the party circles, the party high command has summoned State leadership at New Delhi on November 23 for introspection on the reasons which led to defeat of the party candidates in the Municipal polls.
The State unit leaders, including the Pradesh Congress Committee office bearers, former ministers and Legislators, led by PCC chief G A Mir will meet the AICC president Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretary and incharge J&K, Ambika Soni and others to explain the reasons of dismal performance of the party notwithstanding an apparent resentment against the BJP. Ghulam Nabi Azad is also understood to attend the meeting, sources added.
Sources said that unprecedented delay in formation of district and block committees of the Congress is likely to figure prominently in the meeting as majority of the State Congress leaders feel that defunct organizational structure at district and block level was root cause of the party defeat.
Pertinent to mention that district and block committees of the Congress have not been constituted in Jammu and Kashmir for the last many years.
