Resignation Row: Chhewang thrashes Raina's spiritual angle
'For BJP being a nationalist is no qualification, party leaders believe in appeasing anti-nationals only'

Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 20: The BJP Member Parliament from Ladakh Thupstan Chhewang, who tendered his resignation from the BJP and the Parliament recently, has spilled the beans. He has accused the BJP central leadership of ignoring the aspirations of the people of Ladakh and putting the credibility of the Ladakhi leaders at stake.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "May be one Parliament seat at this point of time hardly matters for the BJP but in the long run party would have to pay for ignoring the Ladakh region."
He said that Chhewang resigning from the BJP ahead of the Parliamentary polls is a jolt to saffron party.
It may be recalled that soon after Chhewang resigned from the party the state president of the BJP Ravinder Raina tried to down play the development by claiming that he (Chhewang) has quit the active politics to opt for spiritual isolation.
However, Chhewang has thrashed his claim stating: "I have never met Ravinder Raina after he became state party president nor he cared to see me since his elevation."
A politician said that its "unfortunate" that the BJP leaders instead of trying to know the reason for Chhewang's resignation just mocked at him and tried to divert the attention towards "spiritual angle." "May be Ladakh is a small constituency but the fact is that Ladakhis went out of way to support the BJP with a hope that party would bring the much needed change. But it did not happen," the politician added.
He said that BJP leaders have started believing that winning Lok Sabha elections would be a "cakewalk" for them but this a just an "illusion" and they are living in a "fool's paradise."
"People of Ladkah have always stood by the country and are pure nationalists but for BJP leaders being a nationalist seems no qualification. They love to appease those people who challenge India's sovereignty and propagate sedition and separatism," the politician added.
An observer said, "BJP leaders from Jammu and Kashmir should stop providing wrong feedback to the top central leadership. They need to tell the people sitting in New Delhi that the incharges, who were appointed by them to handle J&K affairs, have failed to deliver and they have concentrated only on those areas where BJP has no support."
He said, "Jammu and Ladakh regions were emerging as the bastions for the saffron party but a few leaders have messed it up. If BJP central leadership keeps on ignoring Jammu and Ladakh it would end up on a losing side as power doesn't remain forever."
