14 bovines rescued; 2 smugglers arrested, vehicle seized

SAMBA, Nov 28: A Police Party of P/S Ghagwal headed by Inspr Rajeev Kumar, SHO P/S Ghagwal under the close supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Hqrs Samba foiled Bovines smuggling, seized vehicle and arrested t smugglers.
A police party during vehicle checking at Police Naka NHW Tapyal, signaled to stop a Truck bearing registration No. JK02AF-3911 which was coming from Kathua side. On seeing the Police Party, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot. But after a successful chase by the Police, the truck was intercepted near NHW Nonath. During checking of the vehicle, 14 Bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were being transported illegally without any permission.
The accused driver and his associate have been identified as Shabir Shah son of Jasin Shah and Ashiq Ali Shah son of Jamat Ali Shah both resident of Chaml Banihal, Ramban were arrested on spot. The vehicle involved in the bovine smuggling was also seized and all the bovine animals were rescued.
In this regard a case FIR No. 155/2018 U/S 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started. It may be recalled that the vigorous drive against the bovine smugglers has been launched by District Police Samba on the directives of Dr. Koshal Sharma, JKPS, SSP Samba.
