Grazing Committee Meeting held

Jammu, Nov 28: The meeting of Grazing Area Allotment Committee of Jammu District was held at today under the Chairmanship of B. Mohandaas, Conservator of Forests East Circle Jammu Chairman.
Grazing Area Allotment Committee District Jammu discussed the allotment of grazing areas to the seasonal Gujjars, Bakerwals and Gaddies in Jammu District for winter season of the year 2018-19. The meeting was attended by Sat Paul, DFO Jammu, DFO, Soil Conservation Division, Jammu, Representative of Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Range Officers, Forest frontline staff, Ch. Nizam-ud-Din Khatana, Ch. Mohd Rafiq Non Official members as well as number of seasonal graziers from Jammu, Jindrah, Bahu and Kalidhar Forest Ranges were also present in the meeting.
While speaking on the occasion Mohandaas issued instructions for constitution of subcommittee in every Forest Range comprising of allottee grazers as member and Range Officer as chairman to ensure removal of brushwood fencing, forest fire prevention and prevention of encroachment from forest areas and also directed that allottee grazers will also share responsibility for any incidents of Fire/Damage/Encroachment in his Grazing Allotment Area and will assist in containing forest fire forest damage and attempt to encroach upon forest land.
DFO Jammu while addressing the gathering in the meeting said that the effort has been made so that marginal and poor grazers are given fair and proportional allocation. He also requested grazers to help department to control forest fires in coming fire season. DFO Jammu also stressed upon the prohibition of construction of Pacca Daras/Structures within allotted area in Forest land.
The non-official members appreciated the Forest Authorities for prompt addressing of issues of seasonal grazers. The non officials members and the nomads who participated in meeting highlighted the issues of graziers and pledged to support forest department in sustainable management of forests.
