Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 28: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by an NGO Golden Heartz through its Director Parimoksh Seth, seeking direction to state to provide sufficient infrastructure in the school for Blinds in Roop Nagar Jammu including hostel facilities, boarding and lodging, extra curriculum activities, study material for progression in life, specific computer etc., a Division Bench of the State High Court Comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rajesh Bindal after hearing Advs Navyug Sethi and Ankesh Chandel for the PIL whereas Sudesh Magotra Govt Advocate for the State, directed respondents to examine and place before this Court an action plan within four weeks from today of the manner in which the disability census would be undertaken in the entire State of Jammu and Kashmir. Division Bench further directed to respondents to place an action plan with regard to undertaking disability audits of public buildings which would include hospitals, bus stands, transport system, railway stations, airports, all government buildings, pavements, parks, etc. While passing these directions, Division Bench made it clear that in case the action plan and status reports in terms of the above are not filed within the period granted, Principal Secretary, Department of Social Welfare, Government of J&K shall remain present in Court on the next date of hearing. Division Bench also impleaded Central Govern-ment through Secretary to Government, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi as party respondent and issued notice to him with the direction that he shall file a status report regarding the Central grants and measures for the disabled as well as the Schemes which are operational for the benefit of the disabled/ differently abled persons in the State of Jammu and Kashmir. |
