Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 28: In an unusual development, some of the senior Kashmiri leaders from various political parties have been camping in New Delhi with political circles asking what's cooking up in the national capital.
Sources said in the last few days some of the senior leaders including those from the Pradesh Congress, National Conference and Peoples Conference were seen in the national capital.
Sources said the leaders from Kashmir have been in touch with some of the "influential" voices there and are discussing about "prospects of track-II talks on Kashmir through Norway and its expected benefits."
Sources said while the senior Congress leader from Kashmir held meeting with the Congress party president Rahul Gandhi, the latter asked him about how the proposal to form government with the Peoples Democratic Party had come up. Sources the two also discussed the impact of track-II talks on Kashmir politics.
Sources said Peoples Conference leader held a series of meetings with the top brass of the Bharatiya Janta Party.
The NC leader on the other hand is understood to have held deliberations with the leaders of the national parties from various camps and discussed the track-II in particular. Sources said each of the leaders was discussing some "important developments" expected from track II talks in Kashmir.
On 23rd of November in a surprise move, Norwegian delegates led by their former Prime Minister had visited Kashmir and held closed door talks with both Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Geelani's residence in Hyder Pora.
The former PM held meetings with the separatists, rising speculations over possible mediation efforts for peace in Kashmir.
Interestingly, it was under his leadership that Norway negotiated peace between the Sri Lankan government and LTTE rebels in 2005.
Political analysts are keenly monitoring the "unusual developments."
