Jammu, Nov 28: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to handover the case of killing of BJP State Secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Parihar on November 1 in Kishtwar town to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Early Times is the first newspaper that reported about the handing over of the case to the NIA.
As per details available, Dharmender Kumar, Under Secretary to government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs (CTCR Division) vide order dated 26-11-2018 issued the order to hand over the probe to NIA.
"Whereas the Central government has received information regarding registration of FIR No. 290/2018 Dated 1-11-2018 at PS Kishtwar, District Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir, under section 302 of RPC and section 7 & 27 of Arms Act relating to killing of Anil Kumar Parihar and his brother Ajit Kumar Parihar, sons of Laxman Das on 1-11-2018 by unknown criminals who were equipped with illegal weapons.
"The Central government is of the opinion that the offence under NIA Act 2008 has been committed and having regard the gravity of offence, the Central government is of the opinion that it is required to be investigated by NIA in accordance to NIA Act 2008 and in exercise of the power conferred under Sub Section 5 of section 6 read with section 8 of NIA Act 2008, the central government herby directs the NIA to take up the investigation of the aforesaid case," reads the order.
It is pertinent to mention that the family members of the Parihar brothers had strongly demanded NIA probe into their killings and wanted that NIA should probe the case on all possible angles including "politically motivated killing executed through militants".
The official sources said that however J&K police will continue to assist the NIA in conducting the raids, arrest of accused, and will also provide manpower to the NIA as and when required by them.
