Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 28: Senior Congress leader and former Minister Sham Lal Sharma has called upon the state government to take corrective measures rather than adopting a vindictive attitude towards Early Times.
He was reacting to the reports of choking of advertisements by State Information Department to Early Times for its bold and unbiased journalism.
Sharma asserted that there must not be any fiddling with the fourth pillar of democracy as well as with the freedom of press.
"If some newspaper is portraying the true picture of realities of the state, disparity with the Jammu region, corruption beside other issues, then the state government must take corrective measures to fix the rot in the system rather than adopting a vindictive attitude and tightened noose around media", Sharma rued.
Sharma further lamented that across India the media houses, which are critical of the government policies and have been showing the real picture of ground realities, have been facing such type of pressures from government. "The prime duty of any media organization is to speak the truth rather than appreciating or eulogising the governments and its policies", Sharma said, adding that there must be transparency in the distribution of the advertisements and end to discrimination with Early Times.
