Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 30: Following a revolt against incumbent PCC president GA Mir who is accused of promoting favoritism and corruption in the State Congress, the party has decided to consider mandate to the aspirants in next Assembly elections on the basis of shows of strength.
These aspirants will organize show of strength on the dates allotted to them in their respective areas which will be personally visited or monitored by the AICC secretary incharge for feed back to the high command.
On basis of performance in the show of strength, the Congress high command will decide mandate to these aspirants in Jammu and Kashmir where Assembly elections are likely to be held along with Lok Sabha polls by the month of May-June, next year.
Decision for adopting this formula for recommending mandate was taken by the AICC secretary incharge Shakeel Ahmad and Sudhir Sharma after taking meetings of the senior party leaders at Jammu and Srinagar where allegations were openly hurled against PCC president G A Mir.
As already reported by the Early Times, these meetings witnessed open spar between the party leaders, who hurled personal allegations against each other as well as G A Mir. In front of AICC incharge, several Congress leaders accused G A Mir of promoting corruption and favouritism in the party thus causing to humiliating defeat of Congress in the recently held Local Body elections across the State.
According to the formula devised for show of strength and consequent recommendation for the mandate in Assembly elections, all the aspirants will submit their names to the respective District Congress presidents by December 15, who will forward the same to the AICC Secretary incharge.
After allotment of convenient dates from December 15 onwards, these aspirants will organize show of strength in their respective area on particular days. On the basis of these shows of strength, both the AICC incharge will submit their report to the party high command informing about extent of public support and capacity of these aspirants for Assembly seat mandate, sources said.
