JAMMU, Dec 1: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee in a meeting held at its office at Rohi Morh Gadi Garh Jammu expressed their gratitude to Satya Pal Malik Governor of J&K for taking the cognizance issue for granting PRC and issue directions to high level officers at the helm of affairs to simplify the procedure to minimize the difficulties being faced by the public in general and DPs in particular.
The meeting also urged upon Malik to issue necessary directions / orders for release of relief compensation to DPs of 1947 from POK who after migration in 1947 went outside the state in search of foiod and shelter and were registered there. Though, lateron they came back and settled in state more than 60 years back are being deprived of the relief package merely on the basis of registration.
While presenting his views regarding the aforesaid issues Gurdev Singh, President said that people in general and DPs in particular are facing lot of difficulties and harassment at the hands of officials while obtaining Permanent Resident Certificate. The formalities have been increased many folds thus violating the PRC act and other relevant act. He said that the matter has been brought many times to the notice of higher authorities to minimize the formalities to save the DPs particularly from the hands of nexus formed between agent and officials.
He said that even representation /memorandum were submitted by this organization from the last many years to Former Governor N.N. Vohra, Former Chief Ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, directions issued by them were never adhered and implemented. The DPs of 1947 are being asked to produce Shajranasab/Jamabandi of 1944 are prior to it of their families which can only be possible if POK is vacated by Govt. of India and DPs have to go back to get these Jamabadies / Shajranasab to their native places in POK. He expressed his gratitude to Malik who saved the people at the hands of nexus within and outside the Govt.
He further urged upon Malik to consider he pending cases of all those DPs for relief compensation, who went outside the state and were registered there. He said that relief cannot be denied to them on the basis of their registration having outside the state. He said that majority of them came back and settled in State and also received the benefits. Their wards has been issued PRCs and were given employment in various departments of the state.
How they can be deprived of this relief compensation when on the other hand Kashmiri migrants who are registered and settled outside the state are getting all kinds benefits. He said that Govt. is already seized of the issue as it has been brought many times to their notice. He appealed toMalik to order the authorities to release the relief compensation in favour of the pending cases in favour of such DPs who have been verified and even appeared on the net and awaiting relief for the last many months.
