Early Times Report

Udhampur, Dec 4: A struggle stretched over several decades for a boundary wall of a government school in Udhampur has gone in vain. The school at present high school, Jhakhar has no boundary wall and this, according to locals and staffers, endangers the lives of the students and the staffers.
According to the Right to Education Act 2009, it is mandatory for all schools to have boundary wall but the authorities have ignored this law, putting their students in danger.
The school misses the morning prayers and other activities for want of boundary wall. The school is situated in the close vicinity of a forest and animals venture into the premises of the school very often, the locals said.
The headmaster, Kanchan Bhalla said the students cannot concentrate on their studies as their attention diverts to happenings outside the school premises. "There is an open well outside the school gate and in absence of boundary wall, a mishap may occur any time, she added.
