Misdeeds of PDP-BJP regime likely to expose as Govt sets up panel to look into functioning of JKPCC

Jammu, Dec 4: Decision of the Pincipal Secretary Planning Rohit Kansal to constituted a fact finding committee to look into the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation Limited (JKPCC) is likely to expose misdeeds and corrupt practices adopted during previous PDP-BJP regime
According to official handout issued this evening, Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma, Commissioner Secretary Revenue Shahid Anayatullah, Managing Director JKPCC M. Raju were present at the meeting, who among others will be the members of the said committee.
Credibe sources in the corridors of power said during coalition regime in which BJP was equal partners many contracts were given by adopting illegal means. Some blue-eyed boys of coalition partners had reportedly managed to get favour at the cost of genuine and deserving contractors by compromising with quality. Furthermore cost of many projects were enhanced to give indue benefits to these blue-eyed boys of coalition partners.
As per official handout Principal Secretary said that the committee will look into the matters regarding process of awarding contracts to the contractors often on a nomination basis, without following transparent tendering procedures, diverting of funds from one project to another, irregularities in appointments at various levels, inefficiency in functioning and cost overruns in implementation of projects etc.
Rohit Kansal directed the MD JKPCC to prepare a detailed report on pending projects, ongoing projects, their estimated cost, funds being spent on these projects, process of tendering, process of appointments, strength of employees in the corporation, audit mechanism and procurement procedure.
The Principal Secretary also had deliberations with the members of the committee and asked for their suggestions for improving the functioning of the Corporation. He said that committee will also suggest measures for reinforcing discipline in the Corporation and delivery of quality work.
