NET aspirants from Kashmir aghast over Centre designation
12/18/2018 9:36:29 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 18: Scores of UGC National Eligibility test aspirant from Kashmir had to travel to far flung areas as National Testing Agency (NTA) had designated Centres to the students outside the state.
Despite giving preference to the exam center in Kashmir students were left with no option than to travel outside the state for the exams with many falling with financial and other hurdles. The aspirants had earlier complained but no one paid heed.
An NET aspirant who hails from South Kashmir said that it was a shock for me when I came to know that my exam center has been designated in Jammu. "I do not understand how National Test Agency can be so harsh on the students."
Adil Malik another student said that it was the first time that I have traveled outside Kashmir for any exam. "I had to bring my father along as I knew no one in the Jammu. They should know that about the condition of National highway. It was bad dream for me and my father while travelling here," he said.
This was the first time that National Eligibility Test was conducted on online bases. All the exams were used to conduct through OMR sheet, but this year National Testing Agency as a premier, specialist, autonomous body conducted the computer based exam and allotted the center outside state.
There are many aspirants that could not manage to reach the center as their centers were allotted outside the Jammu and Kashmir state. One such student who hails from north Kashmir said that he and his cousin could not managed to reach the exam centers due to financial constraints.
He said that he feels sheer injustice and disgusted over the decision made by the National Testing Agency to set up the center outside the Jammu and Kashmir make it difficult for the students who had been preparing from quite a long time.
