KISHTWAR, Jan 10: A Block Development Officer in this district has withdrawn material payment worth lacs of rupees and let the poor job card holders to suffer for the want of deserving payments against the work done, a technical assistant who was appointed on the fake documents has sold the cement worth approximately Rs. 20 lakh in open market.
As per the details available with Early Times, the said technical assistant who has been assigned the duty of storekeeper during the year 2016-17 & 2017-18 of the said block from where he was later transferred by the ACD Kishtwar instead of providing the cement to poor people through Panchayat swindle the whole amount by selling the cement to private parties.
Sources told the Early Times that the issue came to fore after the concerned BDO resumed the duty nearly after month beside some MGNREGA JEs and other Technical Assistant posted in the block laid hands to some suspicious documents on which fake signatures of some employees of the department were found on the utilization certificates.
The sources said that after surfacing of this cement scandal, the BDO initiated probe beside also started the process for the recovery, however even after nearly one and half year since then; nothing was done by successive BDOs and also by the concern ACDs since the BDO concern had also initimated to ACDs about the sale of Government cement to private parties.
The sources said that the said so called technical assistant who was appointed on fake documents several years ago had purchased land worth several lacs in his locality, beside also constructed a shopping complex and in addition to this also purchased a piece of land worth several lacs on the name of his brother In law (wife's brother).
The sources said that despite repeated complaints against him at various forums with regard to his fake degrees and accumulation of huge property both at Kishtwar and Jammu, nothing was done against him.
