Bovine smuggling bid foiled, 20 bovine animals rescued

RAMBAN, Jan 11: In continuation to its special drive against the menace of bovine smuggling launched on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban-Anita Sharma today a
Police spokesman said that police party led by Inspector Nazir Ahmed-SHO Batote under the supervision of DySP Hqr Ramban-Asgar Malik under the close supervision of Addl. SP-Sanjay Parihar laid a surprise naka near Nashri, Batote.
"During checking, 02 vehicles bearing registration JK02AC-8717 (Truck) and JK02CA/5032 (Tata mobile) has been signalled to stop for checking", said spokesman adding that on search, the said vehicles found loaded with 16 and 04 bovine animals respectively.
Spokesman further said that total 20 bovine animals have been rescued and both the vehicles have been seized. The driver of the truck managed to flee from the spot taking the advantage of darkness and a suspected bovine smuggler (driver) namely Ravi Kumar of Neeli Nallah, Rehmbal has been taken into custody.
"On questioning, the suspected person revealed that they were trying to smuggle the bovine animals towards Kashmir without seeking permission from the concerned authorities", said spokesman adding that in this regard a case under FIR No. 04/19 and 05/19 under section 188 of RPC, 3 PC Act has been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation taken up.
