Two persons held with arms, ammunition in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Jan 11: Police on Friday arrested two persons and recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.
An official said that a naka was held near Dilshan Hotel Shalteng Srinagar by Cargo Srinagar and, during the checking, two people were held with arms and ammunition in a vehicle under registration number JK 13 C 2094.
The arms include AK 47-1, INSAS 01, and a hand grenade, besides arms, rupees five lakh cash were also recovered from them.
Meanwhile, four gamblers were arrested and 4,230 stake money was also recovered from the gambling site.
Acting on a tip-off, a police party of Police Station Kralkhud raided a gambling den in Basant Bagh Gowkadal area and arrested four gamblers namely Zahoor Ahmad Najar son of Habibullah Najar resident of Mandirbagh, Shahnawaz Ahmad Tramboo son of Late Ali Mohd Tramboo, Jamsheed Ali Malla son of Ali Mohd Malla and Abdul Majid Kant son of Mohd Sultan Kant, all residents of Basantbagh
In this regard, a case FIR No. 01/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation was taken up.
Police also arrested a drug peddler in Khanyar area of district Srinagar and recovered codeine bottles from his possession. The drug peddler namely Zahid Manzoor Mir son of Manzoor Ahmad Mir, a resident of Daulat Abad Khanyar was arrested and a large quantity of banned codeine phosphate bottles were recovered from his possession.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 02/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Khanyar and investigations have been taken up.
