JKECA alleges fraud from EMC limited

Jammu, Jan 17: J&K Electrical Contractors Association on Thursday alleged that national and reputed companies who were brought by the state government for creating power development infrastructure have left the state without paying dues to the local contractors.
One of the association member said that Government of Jammu and Kashmir brought in some national and reputed companies for creating power development infrastructure under Government of India flagship scheme RAPDRP-B and other schemes. Where in EMC Limited from Kolkata West Bengal with regional office at New Delhi and its makeshift office at Kursu Raj Bagh, Srinagar.
He added that they engaged local contractors for execution of works at their own terms and conditions from 2014 onwards. The bills were made to paid out in 15 days or 30 days but the officials from the company left Kashmir unnoticed without making due payments for work done leaving all of us high and dry with the argument from their source that J&K Govt.
"Officials of EMC Limited are not answering our calls and we demand payments from the company. And, payments shall be released as per the conditions. We approached banks and financial institutions for financial assistance. We got some finances only after we mortgaged our ancestral, parental and other properties to which we have been paying a huge sum of interest to the loan amount have piled up manifold. Our families are suffering", he added.
Members of association alleged that no government officials are listening to their woes despite many efforts from the association. They alleged that the association members were denied permission when asked to meet governor of the state. Advisor to the Honorable Governor, B.B.Vyas, had a very patient hearing earlier and under his chair matter got some impetus. But the matter is now pending disposal for reasons best known to them.
