Horticulture Department to organize Divisional Level mega event

Jammu, Jan 17: The Department of Horticulture Jammu is organizing a Divisional Level Mega Event for farmers and fruit growers at Gulshan Ground Jammu on 19th January. The event will be inaugurated by Mazoor Ahmad Lone (IAS) the Secretary to Government Horticulture Department J&K.
Director Horticulture Jammu, Rakesh Kumar Srangal informed that the event is likely to be attended by more than 1000 number of farmers and fruit growers from all the ten districts of Jammu. During the event all the allied departments of the state and center will showcase their activities and schemes besides machinery Mela will be organized at the venue.
He added further, latest tool implements, farm machinery and other horticulture; agriculture related products will be displayed by different companies and dealers to facilitate purchasing of the same by the farmers as per their choice and suitability.
Director Horticulture said that main objective of organizing such kind of event is to provide common platform for the fruit growers of Jammu division to interact with different stake holders, to glamorize the horticulture profession by using modern technologies, to educate farmers about various central schemes and to aware and educate unemployed youth to generate employment avenues through Horticulture sector.
He added further it is an opportunity for the fruit growers of Jammu division to display their quality fruits so to encourage other farmers. Also, to encourage farmers by honoring them with momentous and promote organic farming by the using Bio fertilizers and Bio pesticides through demonstration. Also very importantly vocational training courses will be provided by the department to educated unemployed youths and housewives.
"Further live demonstration will be given on high density Orcharding Vertical farming micro irrigation technique, skill development and on other parts. Also interactions with expert scientists will be organized wherein the farmers and fruit growers will interact with Departmental experts' scientists and their technical problems and queries will be addressed on spot", Director Horticulture said.
