Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Jan 18: A day after Early Times carried the news regarding the misappropriation of 2500 quintal BPL ration by the Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) Kishtwar, 300 quintal of atta was today released to the dealers from Kishtwar Store after the intervention of AD CAPD Kishtwar.
The dealers informed the "Early Times" that senior officials assured them that they will be provided the remaining ration in next few days for the month of December 2018. They however, added that the senior officials remained non committal about the ration for the month of January 2019.
They said that they are under tremendous pressure from the consumers as they failed to provide them the ration due to non release of the quota into their favour as TSO Kishtwar had allegedly "swindled and misappropriated" the said ration meant for the distribution among the ration card holders.
Speaking to Early Times, AD CAPD Kishtwar Abdul Rashid informed that senior officials ordered multiple inquires into the embezzlement after the news report appeared in Early Times. He said that guilty officer will be dealt under rules.
It is pertinent to mention that TSO Kishtwar had allegedly embezzled around 2500 quintals of Ration meant for the distribution among the Below Poverty Line (BPL) and had ostensibly embezzled around 600 quintal of ration meant for APL category.
In addition to this hundreds of quintals of Sugar were also embezzled by the concern official as no sugar was provided to the consumers by the department. Sugar was allegedly sold to private shopkeepers during Diwali.
