Ram Madhav's 'concern' on Bukhari's expulsion triggers rumors
1/21/2019 11:22:53 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 21: With Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) General Secretary Ram Madhav showing "concern" towards the expulsion of Altaf Bukhari from the Peoples Democratic Party, the rumor mills are active asking if the ousted leader enjoys support of the BJP.
While interacting with media persons here in Jammu, Madhav had raised question as to why Bukhari was shunted out if he was PDP's chief ministerial candidate for proposed alliance with the National Conference till a few months ago.
The unusual support from the rightwing party has brought debate into focus that after Mufti Muhammad Sayeed's death some PDP leaders had been in touch with BJP to form government without Mehbooba Mufti as the Chief Minister that time.
Recently, on the death anniversary of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed on January 7, Mehbooba had said that at the time of the death of her father some of her party colleagues had "gone to Nagpur" for a separate alliance with the BJP to form government in state.
It is pertinent to mention that on the death anniversary of Mufti Muhammad Sayeed Bukhari had remained conspicuous for his absence at the event.
Sources said Bukhari was told by his well wishers that PDP leader Nayeem Akhter had allegedly made a plan with Mehbooba to "project Altaf Bukhari as the prospective Chief Minister in November last year only to compel the Raj Bhawan to dissolve the Assembly."
Soon after the Assembly was dissolved Bukhari was understood to have spoken against Mehbooba and Nayeem at a party meeting.
In his recent media interactions Bukhari has told media persons that in December he had openly asked Mehbooba Mufti to step down from that post of party president due to her "failures."
Some of the PDP leaders have been accusing Bukhari of being supported by BJP in Kashmir. "We will soon call a press conference and expose why BJP is so concerned about him(Bukhari)," a PDP leader said on the condition of anonymity.
Pertinently the Early Times had been reporting for around a month that PDP leaders were asking Mehbooba to initiate action against Bukhari for his allegedly anti-parties activities.
Despite repeated attempts Bukhari couldn't be contacted for comments.
