Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 29: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) held a meeting of DPs of 1947 from POK at Channi Arorian and sought implementation of Joint Parliamentary Committee Report of Home Affairs.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Gurdev Singh President, wherein DPs of the adjoining areas participated. The participants in the meeting sought the implementation of Joint parliamentary Committee's Report of Home Affair having top priority for reservations for their wards in both the state and Centre Govt. services and educational institutions.
The participants urged upon Satya Pal Malik to take cognizance of their legitimate issues and prepare a comprehensive roadmap to end their rehabilitations issues hanging for the last more than 7 decades.
While addressing the meeting Gurdev Singh said that this organization is in relentless struggle for the one time resolution of DPs issues for the last more than 50 years which is evident from the fact that today that what DP are getting is outcome of this long struggle.
He said that though Rs 5.5 lakhs per DP family is a small amount and certainly in no way match with the loss of lives and properties they have suffered, yet it has given some solace and respite to DPs and added that this package has acknowledged he legitimacy of their claim for compensation for their left out properties in POK.
He said that the resentment of DPs in this regard have been many times conveyed to both the Govt. and also told that this tiny amount is unreasonable and insufficient. The DPs are failed to understand that how this tiny amount has been calculated without forming any logical criteria. The DPs have accepted this amount as a relief on the assurances of Raj Nath Singh and Dr. Jatinder Singh Ministers in Union of India, that the DPs would be adequately. He appealed to DPs to focus their attention on Rs. 30 lakhs as target per family as per the recommendation of JPC and shall have to strive hard to achieve it.
The members who spoke in the meetings are Khem Raj (Naib Sarpanch), Pardeep Kumar (Panch), Mohinder Sharna, Kuldeep Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, Karanveer and Munish Sharma.
