Drug peddlers held with poppy straw, heroin

Reasi, Jan 29: In its continued drive, launched against drug peddlers and recovered 4 kg of Poppy Straw (Bhukki ), 25 gram heroine like substance, 12 intra dermal Syringes, 9 disposable syringes, 12 needles, two spoons, two lighters, one spatula, one roll of silver foil, portable weighing machine, etc were recovered from their possession.
Police spokesman said that today a special Naka was raised at Ram Gali, Reasi and during the Naka checking duty at about 1000 hrs, two persons who were coming from Ram Gali Reasi (Reasi), and carrying bags in their hands, in the meanwhile when they saw the police party doing checking, they both tried to conceal their presence and made a bid to escape from there.
"On seeing this, the police party led by SI Nitin and including Ct Manpreet and Ct Pardeep Singh and Ct Ajay Sharma made strenuous efforts and caught the said persons, who upon enquiry, disclosed their name as Shiv Nandan of Ward no. 11, and Vikram Gupta alias Laddi of Ward no.11, Teh. & Distt. Reasi and during the search of their bags, 4 kg of Poppy Straw (Bhukki ), 2 kg each, heroine like substance, 12 mg and 13 mg each, 12 intra dermal Syringes, 9 disposable syringes, 12 needles, two spoons, two lighters, one spatula, one roll of silver foil, portable weighing machine, etc were recovered from their possession. The intoxicant substances were sealed on the spot and a docket was sent to police station Reasi for investigating the matter.
In this regard, a case under FIR No. 21/2019 under section 8/15/ NDPS Act has been registered in police station Reasi and investigation has been set into motion.
The operation was carried out by Inspector Ashwani Sharma- SHO Reasi, under the direct supervision of Dr Nikhil Gogna-DySP Hqrs Reasi, and under the overall supervision of SSP Reasi-Nisha Nathyal.
