1/29/2019 11:19:41 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 29: On one hand the General Administration Department (GAD) has accorded prosecution sanction against an officer for his involvement in a corruption case but the government has posted the officer in a transparency watchdog agency.
According to the documents, the GAD (Vigilance) had accorded prosecution sanction, against some officials for their involvement in the misappropriation of funds, when these officials were posted in various wings of Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department.
Out of these officials of CAPD, one official was Assistant Director Mills Jammu when the case of misappropriation of funds was registered against the official by Vigilance organization.
The prosecution sanction was accorded by GAD (Vigilance) on 29/1/2018 vide government order number 10-GAD (Vigilance) of 2018 against the officer. "But the officer has been posted on an important position at State Information Commission, which is a transparency watchdog and look after various aspects of the information act", sources said.
They further said, "posting of an official who is already accused in corruption case at such an important post raises question mark over the resolve of government against the corruption".
An officer pleading anonymity said, "According prosecution sanction against an official simply means that government has given go ahead to prosecute in the court of law, which will decide the guilt".
He further said that the Information Commission is not an important position, where financial transactions are involved. "Usually govt avoids appointing an accused official at a position, where financial transactions are involved but in Information Commission, no such financial transactions are involved so it is not an important posting", the official said.
