Jammu, Feb 5: Two weeks after the "Early Times" carried a news story related to embezzlement of over 100 pipes provided by the PHE department on the name of RDD Kishtwar in its 21-1-2019 edition, the pipes were recovered from the possession of a PDP leader.
The scam, locals said deprived around 200 households of drinking water in Binoon Panchayat.
As per the details available with "Early Times" the PHE Department sanctioned 225 meters GI Pipes of 25 MM Diameter and 440 Meters GI Pipes of 20 MM Diameter vide indent No. RR/25/7 Dated 5-6-2018 and as per the receipt the pipes were issued on the name of Dilshad Ahmed through Mohammad Yassen-the thing which was not into the notice of the RDD officials.
As soon as "Early Times" carried the news story, the Ombudsmen MGNREGA as well as local administration take the note of the same and ordered a probe into the matter.
During the course of the investigation, it has come to fore that the PHE department has fraudulently issued these pipes to active PDP worker and among these pipes majority of the same was recovered while the process has been started for recovering few short pipes from the said political

The RDD employee Dilshad Ahmed on whose name these pipes were shown issued in his written reply in response to the news item published in "Early Times" Dated 21-1-2019, titled RDD embezzles pipes given by PHE submitted that he had not received any pipes from the PHE Hydraulic Division Kishtwar with regard to any convergence scheme pertains to MGNREGA neither the BDO concern of Block Bunjwah had issued any directions to him with regard to collection of pipes from the Kishtwar store of PHE Department.
"It is further submitted that after the matter comes into my notice as well as in the notice of the department through the locals who approach the ADC Kishtwar through one Jaffer Hussain Zarger, it was established that some pipes among the pipes were found in the custody one Tehseen Ahmed who collected the same from the PHE store Kishtwar on my name without intimating to me or my superiors" read the reply added that after tracing the pipes issued by the PHE Department Kishtwar, the RDD Department is in the process of formulating the plan through local Panchayat for utilization of these pipes for providing the water supply to the inhabitants of Panchayat Binoon, village Chakroom.
