Sajad Lone not invited to meet Modi during his day-long state visit
Has BJP abandoned him?
2/6/2019 12:05:30 AM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 5: Gone are the days when BJP used to sing in praise of its favorite ally- Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone. The party now didn't even invite him to meet the Prime Minister when the latter was on a day-long state visit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated key developmental projects at Srinagar's SKICC and also addressed the people present on the occasion. However, what raised many eyebrows was the absence of Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone during the function.
As per the reports, Sajad who so far was BJP's ally in the state and was also a cabinet minister from BJP's quota during the collation government wasn't even sent an invite to attend the inauguration ceremony.
Such an action has led many to believe that the BJP is now trying to distance itself from Lone and there are chances that the party may abandon him as election dates approach nearer.
The BJP seems to have sensed how NC and PDP both are making rigorous attempts to target the BJP over undermining the democracy in the state by ignoring the voters in Jammu and choosing Kashmir's chief ministerial candidate for the polls. Both parties in the past taunted BJP, saying they couldn't find a face as a chief ministerial candidate and made a person who has mere two seats in the assembly as its chief ministerial candidate.
Former Minister and senior PDP leader Naeem Akhtar on December 10 last year asked BJP to explain why it ignored its 25 MLAs and selected a CM candidate from Kashmir who has mere 2 seats in the assembly.
On the other hand, former chief minister and NC Vice President Omar Abdullah has also cornered the BJP over its choice of Chief Ministerial candidate.
