Santosh Trophy, North zone qualifying round to be held in Katra

Jammu, Feb 8: 73rd National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2018-19 North Zone qualifiers will be held at Katra Sports Complex from 11th to 16th February. National Football Championship is being organised by J&K Football Association and is being supported by J&K State Sports Council, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and J&K Bank Ltd.
Eight States from North India are competing in the Championship which includes Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Chandigarh and host Jammu & Kashmir. As per the fixture issued AIFF, there are total 12 league matches to be played on single leg format. Participating eight teams are divided into two groups and the top team from each group shall qualify for the final Round.
This is the fourth time that _MK Football Association is given the responsibility by AIFF for hosting of this Championship earlier in 1978 (Srinagar), 2008 (Jammu, Srinagar), 2016 (Jammu) & now in 2018-19 (Katra). The Santosh Trophy is an association football league cum knock-out competition contested by the regional state associations and few government institutions under the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the sport's governing body in India.
