2/8/2019 10:12:02 PM
Early Times Report

Akhnoor, Feb 8: Former Minister and Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma reminded Regional Council for Jammu Region and voiced that the funds to Jammu Region should be allocated as per district and population share on the pattern of Leh & Kargil Hill Development Councils. He said that the Council for the Jammu Region should be autonomous in nature.
While addressing Block Congress Committee Workers meeting at Akhnoor he said that now the time has come to grant regional autonomy to Jammu and other regions of the state in order to put an end to the disparity among the three regions and to frustrate designs of disintegrating the state.
He observed that granting regional autonomy would help in empowering all regions and of the State.
Sharma said that in order to ensure to promote nationalism and togetherness of the regions, the present government should think about the grant of regional autonomy to all the three regions. He said that it will also boost economic and political empowerment. He further said that every now and then the differences between all the regions increasing and the people of these regions are feeling alienated.
"The J&K is the most sensitive state and various political parties are indulging in communal polarization, which will be detrimental to the peaceful atmosphere of the state," he added.
Sharma urged upon all political parties to understand the social fabric and the age old traditions of the state and therefore desist from petty politics which will go a long way in maintaining cordial relations by the people among each other.
